The Nest Landing Page Tests – Interviews with the Testers

This post is the third of our The Nest Landing page series and this week we’re talking to two testers who took part in the Bugability™ test on our Nest landing page. Read on to see what it’s like to take part in one of our tests. (Responses have been modified for grammar and clarity)

1.To get started, please tell us your name.

2. In your own words, briefly tell us what the test was about and what you had to do?

Jouwana: In the test, I had to check for bugs and other issues in the Testbirds landing page, checking button, translations issues, and issues linked to pages.
Lello95: A few months ago, I participated in the BugAbility test Test of clients Landing Page of a Crowdtesting-company. In this test, I had to see if everything works well on the page before making it go viral.

3.What did you think about this test?

Jouwana: It was an easy to do test, with a variety of bugs, you need to press on every button and try every page and option to find any possible bug.
Lello95: The test was a pretty easy test and very interesting.

4. What are your thoughts on this type of test? (Both participants took part in the Bugability™ test)

Jouwana: I think it is probably the most fun kind of test, and most productive.
Lello95: These Bugability tests are easy to do

5. How did you conduct this test?

Jouwana: I tested it from Israel using Microsoft Edge, I did not need any other kind of software or tools.
Lello95: I did the test through my laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite s855. And I used Firefox 49 browser on Windows 10. It wasn’t necessary to buy/ download another tool/ software. I could do everything just by going on my Testbird profile and opening the task.

6. Did you notice any changes to the landing page since completing this test and the new landing page going live? Please describe.

Jouwana: I actually haven’t seen the new landing page since I’m always logged in, but I assume they fixed the translation issue and the few buttons that didn’t work.
Lello95: The small bugs had been resolved.

7. What was it like to test for Testbirds?

Jouwana: It was fun and easy
Lello95: It was an honor to help with such a project.

8. What are your “best practices” or “top tips” for testing in a BugAbility test?

Jouwana: Try any and every button, check for any failed validation. and don’t forget to try and make the page smaller (some design issues show up)

9. As a tester, why do you think companies find it important to receive your feedback about their software/digital products?

Jouwana: being a tester means I’m a future customer or a current one, my feedback is the same as any other person that wants to use the product. The better I feel about the product the better the actual customers will.
Lello95: Companies make the website and other apps not for themselves to use, but especially for other people. So, they can look up more information of the company on their own. As a tester, you can see if such a website/ app is easy to use for the average person. Or if there or things the company can improve to make the website/ app more user friendly.
